Vanguard Clean Energy Achieves Commercial Operations at North Sea 2.4 GW Hub

Successful synchronisation of Europe's largest combined offshore wind and subsea battery storage facility with the continental transmission network.

Vanguard Clean Energy, the infrastructure development arm of i3 Group of Companies, has officially initiated commercial operations at its flagship 2.4 GW offshore wind asset in the North Sea.

The multi-year engineering undertaking integrates 180 state-of-the-art turbines connected via 525 kV subsea high-voltage direct current (HVDC) links, supplying steady green power to over 1.8 million European households.

By pairing generation directly with a 1.2 GWh subsea battery system, the facility overcomes traditional intermittency, delivering predictable baseload power contracted under 20-year corporate power purchase agreements.
